Meeting on the 19th of may, 2004
Meeting of the Section took place in the exhibition complex "Siberian fair" on the 19th of may, 2004. Theme of the meeting: "Library editors - competent members of the book market". 14 reports were made.

Report about Section's work in 2001-2004 was made by A. N. Pankova.
Report "Bring book closer to libraries: Experience of organization of book fairs during the RLA's Conference" was made by deputy chairman of the Section, head of the working group of orhanization of expositions of RLA, director of the publishing house of NLR, T. A. Nijnik and E. S. Smirnova, member of the RLA's working group, head of the Sector of organization of bookselling contacts of the publishing house of NLR. Moments of organization of book fairs during the Annual Conference of RLA were described (number of it's members has enlarged twice up to now).
In report, made by L. A. Pronina, director of the Provincial universal scientific library of Ryzan, "Russian editors - for country libraries: problem of replenishment of Information resources of model country libraries" attention was paied to creation of model country libraries and role, plaied by publishing houses. Necessity of regularity of their help and awful state of funds of country libraries was pointed out. Also was told about the lack of literature on law, periodical editions, reference literature etc.
Experience of patronage on country libraries of publishing houses "Pashkov house", "Infra-M", "Epi-Center", Central collector of libraries "Bibkom" was described. Necessity of continuation of such activity was pointed out.
In report, made by the director of publishing house of RSL "Pashkov house" I. I. Shestopalov "Historical theme of library editions as factor of development of civil self-consciousness" attention was paied to book as a mean of forming self-consciousness.
Report, made by N. I. Podkopytova, head of the Department of acquisition of SPSTL of SD RAS "Acquisition of library funds in modern publishing infrastructure" was devoted to the main demands for acquisition of libraries. Necessity of collecting information about new editions, ability of access to information, maintaining people's rights to search, get, transfere information, was pointed out. Reporter took note of the fact, that in modern society views on acquisition of libraries must be reconsidered. Work of the Central collector of libraries "Bibkom" and it's positive results was elucidated.
Actual questions of preparation of edition for being published were elucidated in report "Standards of the new State Standard: is it made for theorist, publisher or bibliographer?", made by A. U. Morozova, chief editor of the publishing house "Russian political encyclopedia". Opinion was expressed that the new State Standard, which comes into effect in 2004, was created rathere for theorist, than for publishers. Necessity of adaptation of it to publishing practice, creation of special methodical training aids for publishers, organization of special seminars. Suggestion was made to make a request for the Section on bibliography to organize several seminars.
Reports and presentations were made, devoted to publishing activity of CLS of Ykutsk (I. V. Nikitina, Saha Republic, Ykutia), marketing support of publishing activity in libraries (M. V. Kuynova, Republican medical library informational center of the Ministry of health protection of Tatarstan Republic), development of publishing activity of provincial or regional library, citing as an example the State universal scientific library of Krasnoyrskii region (M. V. Hija), Department of editorial activity and publishing of SPSTL of SD RAS (N. V. Vishnykova), RSL's magazine "Eastern collection" (A. A. Poleschuk, chief editor).
Conception of the book fair, 2004 was presented by V. G. Uhov, head of the Novosibirsk bureau of the Book fair of Frankfurt. Report, made by N. A. Sheidaeva, was devoted to work of the agency "Top-Book".
Work of the agency "Book-Service" was elucidate in report, made by A. N. Vylkov.
On the meeting main directions of work of the Section for 2004-2005 were aproved, T. A. Nijnik (NLR) was elected as new deputy chairman.
