    IX Annual session of the Conference of RLA

    Meeting on the 19th of may, 2004

    15 persons participated in Section's work. 9 reports were made, among them 5 were devoted to the Conference's theme: "Libraries - heart of the informational society".

    Themes of the reports varies from serious theoretical themes to practical questions.

    Section's geography was seriously enlarged in this year.

    Of special interest was computer presentation, made by I. V. Kotkina, head of the library of Neneckoay secondary school, who told about professional interchange between Russian and American librarians. Report, made by S. M. Grishina, deputy director of the Provincial children and junior library of Sverdlovsk, was devoted to analysis of elucidation of international library life in professional press.

    Reports, made by representatives of RSL, NLR, ARSL (S. A. Kazancev, N. F. Verbina, O. A. Tolstikova) and State universal scientific library of Omsk, named after A. S. Pushkina (O. P. Leonovich) were devoted to experience of realization of international projects of Russia and Kazahstan on national and regional levels, cooperation in the sphere of saving cultural heritage and realization of the idea of united informational space in Europe, development of civil society in Russia. Interesting information about contacts with foreign partners was presented in report, made by L. N. Pocelueva, head of the Department of the State provincial scientific library of Novosibirsk.

    Report, made by S. K. Raeva "About international contacts of children libraries of Kazahstan" and L. A. Kuibysheva "Project Minerva plus and it's realization in Russia" aroused great interest.

    Results of Section's work were summed up by M. Y. Dvorkina, who told about long mankind's traversed path on the way to united informational society, in which information is accessible for everyone.

    Opinion was expressed about necessity of activization of work on informational support of Section's page on the RLA's web-site and enlargement of number of Section's members in 2005

    O. A. Tolstikova, head of the Department of international library contacts of the All-Russian library of foreign literature, named after M. I. Rudomino, was elected a secretary of the Section.
