Dear colleagues,
In may, 2001 on the Annual conference of RLA in Saratov Section on international contacts was established.
Library community of Russia realized the importance and necessity of international cooperation already long time ago. Many libraries of our country actively work in this direction. Since as every activity is more effective when it's carried out together with the colleagues, in RLA the Section on international contacts was created. This Section is RLA's permanent structure, intented to cooperate all the libraries, independently on their size or administrative belonging. Your wish to develop international cooperation is the most important.
Section is open for your ideas and suggestions. Like any new business, it needs your perseverance, desire to do something useful.

Target – help in enlargement of professional contcts beyween Russian and foreign libraries.
Aims:
- render assistance to Russian libraries in establishing and developing international professional relations;
- development and organization of special programs, professional meetings of RLA's members with foreign colleagues;
- carry out informational exchange between RLA and it's partners abroad;
- îáîáùåíèå è ðàñïðîñòðàíåíèå îïûòà çàðóáåæíûõ áèáëèîòåê ñðåäè ðîññèéñêîé áèáëèîòå÷íîé îáùåñòâåííîñòè;
Main directions of work:
- creation and support of the issue, devoted to Section's activity, on RLA's web-site;
- preparation and irganization of seminars and round tables on the main questions of international professional cooperation;
- informing RLA's members about the most interesting professional events abroad;
- consultations of Russian libraries on questions of establishing and development of international relations;
- getting foreign library specialists to take part in RLA's work;
- development of professional contacts with foreign library associations.
