    Section was established on the 20 of october, 1996
    Five big conferences took place during this periond:

    • "History of Russian libraries before the revolution: formation and development" (Sain-Petersburg, 1994).
    • "Libraries of pre-revolutionary Russia in the 20th-30th of the XX century" (1996).
    • "Libraries during the Word War II: fates of collections, problems of search and reconstruction" (Saint-Petersburg, 1998).
    • "Library in historical context" (Moscow, 1995, 1997, 1999).
    • "Readings, devoted to history of libraries of Moscow" (annually).
    • "History of libraries and printing of Saint-Petersbur" (annually).
