Meeting on 20th of may, 2004
On the 20th of may in the State university of Novosibirsk meeting of the Section of university libraries took place.
About 150 persons participated in it.
This meeting was visited by rector ofg state technical university of Novosibirsk, professor A. S. Vostrikov, who not only welcomed the participants and wished them fruitful work, but also expressed his point of view on servicing work of a library.
On the meeting of the section 13 reports were made and discussed. They treated questions of informational and bibliographical activity of university libraries, development of this library sphere, tendencies to cooperation between libraries in the time of transformation of regional educational sphere, corporative activity of university libraries, managing of servicing process with the help of new computer technologies, development of informational culture of specialists of university libraries and system of educating and raising the level of librarians, scientific and research work in university libraries, creation of funds of university editions, published in a small number of copies, establishing of a system of menegement of quality etc.
In those reports both theoretical developments of new solutions of actual problems and concrete experience of libraries in different sphere of their activity were discussed.
Because of the lack of time, although work of the section continued for 7 hours, 7 reports were represented on stends.
Number of administrative questions was discussed on the meeting: new members of Permanent committee were introduced, working group for developing of Model standard of university library was elected; questions connected with the Internet site of this section, publishing informational bulletins were discussed.
Big part of the section's work was devoted to report of representatives of different publishing houses.
At the end of the meeting presentation of the film about the hostory of the library of State university of Novosibirsk took place .
Meeting of the Permanent committee took place. Questions of distribution of duties between committee's members, and suggestions about the plan of Section's work for the next year, were discussed.
