RLA - RUSSIAN LIBRARY ASSOCIATION
Targets:
Joining efforts of libraries, library associations and schools supporting and coordinating of their activities, with the aim to maintain and develop libraries in Russia, representation and protection of their interests, enhancing their prestige and raising the social status of the profession of librarian.
Directions of activities:
Library policy and legislation; Scientific and practical activity; Social protection of employees of libraries, bibliographical and scientific informational organizations; Protection of rights of clients of libraries; International relations; Cultural and educational activity; Publishing and polygraphic activity.
International relations:
RLA is a national association member of IFLA, RLA developers relations with the Library assembly of Eurasia, associations of countries of the CIS and Baltic countries, American Library Association (ALA), Library Association of the (United Kingdom), Union of Poland librarians etc.; RLA is open for contacts with professional library associations of all the countries.

Conference of representatives of RLA's members is a Prime organ of the Association, which is authorized to make decisions on questions in every sphere of RLA's activity.
The Conference organize it's sessions, which can be annual, for reporting and voting, and extraordinary.
Annual sessions are organized for discussing professional questions, and also for approving results of financial year and budget for the next year.
Sessions for reporting and voting take place every three years for making reports about RLA's work, electing members of managing organs, Inspection commission and developing directions of RLA's work for the next three years.
Extraordinary sessions may be convened for discussing questions, which can't be put off till the session of the Conference.
RLA's Council
Council is a executive organ of RLA, which controls it's activity between the sessions of the Conference. Council consists of the President, Vice-presidents (number of them is determined by the Conference) and members of the Council.
Members of the Council are elected on the Conference among the representatives of the participants of RLA. Number of them is determined by the Conference. All the elective offices in RLA are elected for three years. Composition of the Council is half renewed every three years.
RLA's Secretariat
Secretariat is permanent executive organ of RLA, subordinated to RLA's Council and President. Secretariat organizes and carries out current work of RLA

Inspection Commission
Inspection Commission controls the execution of charter's requirements, office work, financial activity of RLA and it's departments. It's elected by the RLA's Conference among the members of the Conference, which are not the members of the Council at that time.
