You are cordially invited to attend the All-Russian Library Congress: 14th Annual Conference of the Russian Library Association, which will take place in Vologda, May 17th – 22nd , 2009. It was announced “Library Capital of Russia 2009”.The city of Vologda is one of the most important cultural centers of the North of Russia, administrative center of the Vologda region, situated in the European part of Russia 500 kilometers from Moscow in area of moderately continental climate. Population: 300000. Temperature in May: + 11° Ñ (overage). Vologda ancient Russian city, it was found in 1147 and has same age as Moscow. Vologda to a large extend had preserved its historical look; one can see here combination of architectural monuments of stone and of wood. Vologda is birthplace – of many outstanding people of Russia, including poets Konstantin Batiushkov and Nicolai Rubtsov, Alexander Mozhaiskii who invented the first airplane, aircraft designer Sergei Ilushin, the cosmonaut Pavel Belyaev, composer Valerii Gavrilin. This is the city of museums, libraries, theatres. Vologda Region is widely known for its national artistic trades: Vologda laces, painted wood, birch bark articles, Northern silver, flax fabrics.
The Congress is supported by the Ministry of Culture of Russian Federation, by the by the Government of the Vologda. Motto of the Congress is «Libraries of Russia in the Knowledge society: dynamics of the integration». Professional program of the Congress: 14th RLA Annual Conference includes the following subjects for presentation and discussion in the 35 sections, round tables and other events: The working language of the Congress: Russian.
Plenary sessions will take place in the City Drama Theatre, meetings of sections of RLA will be held in the libraries and other cultural institutions of the city of Vologda.
During the time of the Congress an Exhibition of the printed production and information technologies will be organized by RLA.
All Congress participants will have opportunity to make presentations of their companies and products during RLA section sessions and in the Exhibition booths. Time of each presentation should be about 5-7 minutes. Fee for a presentation 40 EUR. Each company may have 2 presentations, which will be included in the Congress program.
Deadline for Congress Papers
Papers and presentations should be sent to Organizing Committee before March 10th, 2009.
The Organizing Committee requests for original and practice oriented papers, not and correspond to subject of Congress and not published before.
Plenary and keynote papers – up to 20 minutes, in the sections and round tables meetings – up to 15 minutes, the communications – up to 5-7 minutes.
Please send abstract of your paper to the Program Committee (in the Microsoft Word format) before March 10, 2009.
